Ignorance

The normal tendency of human brain is to always pick the task of utmost priority with utmost benefit. This is a fact that you might have to pinch yourself to accept. The most important lesson learnt out of every failure is that one of the root cause was ignorance.

India being a country too big in size many laws can be framed but the most difficult part is to educate the people about the laws. Movies have done it to an extent especially the fancy numbers like 420 etc but the majority of people aren’t aware of the laws yet. I just thought about this for a moment and tried to understand the significance involved in getting to know the laws.

In order to understand what is the significance of these laws we must be victims or people facing problems. So what is a problem? A simplest example would be denial of service. You go and stand in a train station with a wrong ticket. Are you allowed to board the train? A majority of the Indian crowd would say tip the TTR and just continue to travel. The mistake here is:

  1. You are not aware of the laws surrounding ticket less travel.
  2. The TTR who is responsible for enforcing it is either not aware of it or is ignorant about implementation.

I would probably say that people are more selfish because they know to retard if a salary is denied but they don’t really care if they are denying something to the government.

Why am I writing this blog?

When I was a kid, I was taught about Indian independence. Yes, it was very essential for me to know the Indian culture and heritage but the sad part is the education system has deprived Indian laws as a specialization and not as a basic need for a common man. If laws have to be put to action, then the most important part is to educate the people that a law exists. This country not only requires law makers but also requires people, politician who will put it to action.

Ignorance is the biggest crime that our country faces during the implementation of the laws. This is applicable for all forms of laws. We will get to know the ignorance of cyber crime laws in the upcoming blogs.

Information is wealth

It’s a new year & a new beginning. It took me sometime to pick a topic that I can ride on. India faces serious crisis in two forms. One is internal aggression & another is external disturbance. The first one, we can call it as the fate of our country as our politicians will never learn and after all we elect them to represent us for good but they are so ignorant to realize the reality. The later is something for which the whole country is allocating budget and claim that we are intensifying defense in all forms. The term defense is a highly misinterpreted word in our country.

One thing that is not realized yet is, defense is not just safeguarding people from external armed forces but it is also to safe guard information. The fate of the nation is totally dependent on information that is leaked to other countries. There is huge money involved in this too. What could be the reason for this?

Our country faces enemies in the form of technologists. You might be thinking, ah! Technologists, are they a threat in any form? They are mere individuals who are given good pay checks & work day and night for the benefit of other industries in other countries. They sit in front of computers and perform white collar jobs when compared to a farmer who took agriculture as his profession or an army man who stands at the borders and safe guards the nation. Technologists play a very important role is processing information. They are mere operators of technology and will not know the business impact of the information that is being processed in the queue. Being someone in technology I can give a few samples of the data that we would be processing and some obnoxious impacts in the case of data leaks:

  1. What if you are able to search for the user on a search engine and get to know the bank balance?
  2. The budget logged by the finance minister is sent to the PM for approval and that is the email sent happens to publish the data elsewhere on the web.

Some of you might actually be thinking, such things don’t happen in real life. The reality is that, the technologists have prevented it from happening. There is a great possibility that information leakage happens & our CBI website being hacked is one great example which turned out to be an embarrassment. In order to bring an awareness about what is correct in handshaking/ sharing and revealing information, I would be taking initiatives to write content and bring it to light the laws that should be supporting the cyber related activities that has to be safe guarded.

Javascript variable to JSP variable

A lot of you would have encountered this problem and lot of you might as well know the solution too. Just wanted to write this blog of one of the solution that struck my mind that would rather be simple to follow.

JSP Variable
<% String SVariable = “”; %>

Javascript Variable
var JSVariable = “something”;

Now, in order to store the data that is the JS variable into JSP, we can do it in two easy steps.

  • Copy the Javascript variable value to a Hidden field in the page.
  • Access the hidden field using request.getParameter function of the implicit object.

First time feeling

This is a first time feeling. The more you tend to know people better, the more is the scope for you to improve. Well, I have always intended to compare myself with my own self but, I realize that I am a human and therefore I cannot keep thinking the same thing always. I have always compared myself with others. I am not consoling myself that I was trying to find out loop holes for me to improve but I also realized that others see it as a rat race. This is so real and what I want to convey in this post is hunger is within and anger is what is seen outside.

It’s almost two months now and I have got acquainted with new people. It’s almost two years since I started blogging. I claimed in the past two years that I wanted to have an online visibility and that was the reason why I wanted to have my own web portal too. When I reached Bangalore, I knew that I had to become a passive blogger. I became more of a reader of others blogs and I realized that I had to write quality content so that I can sustain the blogosphere. It is more than three months, there have been a lot of meaningless contents, more meaningful to me but might mean less to others. Now is the right time for a transition. More serious topics starting from alchemy to Zetas will be narrated in detail in my blog.

The more powerful is the content, the more reaching the blog as well as my voice will be. The mood is about to change!

Timed Redirection using Javascript

A lot of us would like to redirect to another page after showing some loading animation to the end user. Well, this does not involve great animation skills. For a developer, a simple HTML and Java script would do well

 I just implemented one and thought of sharing it. I attempted to use setTimeout() to call a function that redirects the current page to another page. In the meantime, we can show some gif animation stating processing/ loading to engage the user. This will provide an illusion to the user that something is happening on the page.

HTML Code: trial.html

<HTML>

<HEAD>

<TITLE> Animation Loading </TITLE>

<script src=”trial.js”>

</script>

</HEAD>

<BODY>

<img src=”images/process.gif” style=”visibility:hidden”>

<input value=”Click Me”>

</BODY>

</HTML>

Javascript: trial.js

function loadSubmit()

{

            document.getElementById(‘process’).style.visibility=’visible’;

            setTimeout(“redirect();”,3000);

}

function redirect()

{

            window.location=”dashboard.html”;

}

I am a bachelor in Engineering. This is something that I am proud of, but being unmarried also puts you in a situation where you are a bachelor. This blog is a glimpse about the glitches that I faced in the past two weeks!

It was really sudden news. Something that I expected and craved for happened all of a sudden. I was displaying a mixture of reactions on my face. My mind was telling me one thing and the heart was telling the other. But it was decided that I no longer cheer for Chennai Super Kings and I had to support Royal Challengers Bangalore.

After the training, it was something that I was expecting that people will be posted to Bangalore. I had to move to Bangalore within a few days. It was exciting as I felt that it was a new beginning. I did not know that I was moving towards a blind curve but the thrill continued to excite me. What is so exciting in this?

I am moving out of home for the first time and I am going to stay alone, “Happily ever after” – This was the thought in my mind and I constantly felt that it was an understatement. After reaching Bangalore, I heard people telling me that, they were feeling home sick. Well, I didn’t have time for that as I was desperately searching for a house. I didn’t even feel comfortable talking with my parents who were unable to digest the fact that I am no longer going to stay with them. Till date, I didn’t feel home sick the only reason is because; I didn’t get a house to live.

I could see people trying to cheat me and trying to get money from my wallet, the simple reason is I did not have a place to stay. As my guru says, “You do good things, good things happen to you”. Well, I really do not know what good I did or my parents did. I ended up getting in touch with someone whom I know through my father. He had a house in a place which was about an hour from my office. I was staying at my friend’s place but I really wished I get a house for rent. So I opted for the same.

There was a dog in the house. I am afraid of dogs but purpose is more important than process. So I chose the house and told myself “This is where I am going to live”. It wasn’t all that easy for a bachelor, first time free bird to get a house in Bangalore. Now, I am inquisitive to see better problems in life.

Bearded friend

India is a secular nation is the first thing that strikes my mind when I think about my civics book. This is reality and every India believes this. It is almost after 60 + years after Independence, there are politicians who still talk about minorities. Islam, Hinduism or any religion for that matter preches the same thing and it is only we humans who interpret it differently. Yes, no two fingers are alike but the reality is that, we make it like a Business.

Couple of days back, Faizal was arrested in America for the terror attack near the New York Time Square. A community of Muslims in the states are being looked closely and are always screened and suspected as terrorists. At this moment, I am actually proud to state that, my brothers in India who are muslims are probably leading a more safer and secular life in our country than others Muslims in other countries. Dr. APJ Abdul Khalam was widely accepted as the President of India which is the #1 Citizen position and the Indian citizen respect him with a great gesture. The rulers of the Indian film industry are the Khans. The Mozart of Madras AR Rahman who has brought the golden globe and the academy awards under his kettle is a follower of Islam. Muslims are given priority even though politics run stating that they are the minorities. It is also an irony that, Indian muslims are a part right from the parliament till the cricket team.

They are indeed our respectable friends! Proud to be an Indian.

I ran the thorn

It is almost a year since I started working for corporates. I have had opportunities to work with people who dared to dream big and those who realized their dream. My bosses were brainy and appreciated skills and talent. At the end, I wanted to recollect one of the key learning in the last one year. It is with great difficulty, I have identified this.

As a baby, I didn’t learn to walk on day 1. But since I am a kid, it was easy for me to tell “Sorry”, “It’s not my mistake”. I think, what differentiates exceptional people is their urge to take accountability. A thorn never gets stuck to your feet. It is you who actually stepped on the thorn. Before pointing a finger at others, it is very important for us to realize that, there are four fingers pointing at us. Very similarly, I transformed myself into a person who takes accountability when something goes wrong. I was being recognized as a learner.

This is a very good leadership quality as well as the pro-activeness of an individual is clearly visible.

Oracle ERR 12505

When I was trying to get my Java code working, I encountered a strange error ERR 12505. It told me that my SID was being used.

Connection refused(DESCRIPTION=(TMP=)(VSNNUM=153092352)(ERR=12505)(ERROR_STACK=(ERR
OR=(CODE=12505)(EMFI=4))))

  • This is a temporary error and has got nothing wrong with your code
  • This error is not caused by Oracle or Java
  • This error is caused because the SID in the TNSNAMES.ORA file is being used.

Solution is:

  • Create a seperate SID that your application can use.

I don’t drink. Do you?

A lot of times, my friends used to ask me a reason why I deny to drink. There used to many reasons and at times there used to be none. In the name of religious principles, I used to dodge and escape from the place. Well, this has been in my mind for a while as to why, Hinduism tells you not to drink.

When I began to surf through the internet, I came to know about the fact that, there lies a mythical story behind why I am advised not to drink. I don’t question spiritual beliefs. So I thought of writing a blog about this. Indian mythology is way ahead of Indian history. So I believe that, good thoughts have to be portrayed to people.

There was Sukracharya who knew “Sanjeevini” mantra which brings the dead alive. He was the guru for the Asuras (Deamons) and Brhaspathi was the guru of Devas (Good side). The disadvantage of the Devas was, Suklacharya brought all the asuras to life who were killed in the war. So Kasan (son of Brhaspathi) becomes the disciple of Suklacharya and is being the lover of Devayani who is the daughter of Suklacharya.

Knowing this, the asuras killed Kasan and Suklacharya brought him back to life. When the same happened third time, the asuras burnt kasan’s dead body and mixed it with the alchohol (soma banam) and gave it to Suklacharya. He also drank it. Now in order to bring Kasan back to life, Suklacharya had to die as Kasan was in the form of ash in his stomach. So Suklacharya ended up teaching the Sanjeevini mantra to Kasan who brought Suklacharya back to life. From that day, people are advised not to drink as  you are just don’t know what you are doing.
